About the 2023 Nozawa Onsen Dosojin Festival

The Dosojin Fire Festival on Sunday, January 15, 2023 is open only to Nozawa Onsen villagers and guests staying in Nozawa Onsen.

Members of the Nozawa-gumi (local community association) will take the lead in carrying out the festival in order to pass on the traditional culture, which is designated as a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property, to future generations.
There are no restrictions on the “pulling of the sacred tree” on Thursday the 13th and the “assembly of the shrine building” on Friday the 14th, but please take precautions against infection on your own.
Please note that admission will be restricted on Saturday, the 15th. (Only those who have applied in advance to the lodge).
