Pension SCHNEE

Pension Schnee is a family run, ski-in ski- out, boutique ski lodge. It is located at the foot of the Isemiya slopes, above the Hikage gondola, next to the Japan ski museum. During winter resort operating hours you can access Pension Schnee from the village via the Yu-road travelator. Pension Schnee specialise in local organic foods and pesticide-free natural wines-they boast a selection of over 400 types! Lunch and dinner can be had by reservation at least 2 days in advance.

Lodge HAHNENKAMM

Lodge Hahnenkamm is a family run, ski-in ski-out lodge, at the Isemiya slopes area, opposite the Japan ski museum. Set at the edge of the cedar forest, it is a great relaxing location to spend a weekend in the mountains in winter or summer. (Dinners at the in-house restaurant can be had by appointment.)

YONETARO

Yonetaro is a hidden gem; a small izakaya/ bar located on the corner of Matsuba street, near Ueno ski Rental. We serve variety of Japanese bar snacks and are well known for our home-made gyoza. There is limited seating so get in early to enjoy a classic slice of Nozawa night life.

Toyo Ramen is a hidden gem located underneath Tokiwaya ryokan at the Oyu onsen end of the main street. We serve a variety of good-value, tasty Ramen, and several chinese-style stir fry dishes. Be sure to try the pan-fried gyoza with a local sake.

Tanuki bar

Tanuki Bar stock an ever-expanding range of Japanese Whisky and other local boutique spirits and have a regional sake and beer list. There are so many new and exciting drinks to try so just ask one of their experienced bartenders and they will point you in the right direction or mix you up one of their speciality cocktails... like the Tanuki! The bar area features a brilliant long copper- plated bar counter, where you can sit and chat with the knowledgeable staff or some intimate booth seating for couples or small groups. They have live music during winter and offer Karaoke and darts all year round.

Sooyu

Sooyu is a family run restaurant located underneath the lodge of the same name up the hill near Yuzawa shrine. We serve a wide range of rice bowl dishes including the good value Steak-don. Sooyu can do hot pot banquets on request, and is a great option for celebrations with small groups.

Nozawa Jiyūgekijyo

Jiyūgekijyo is a unique little bar serving a variety of beers and sake in an old strip club. It is located down the street from Yokochi onsen opposite the police station. We serve a range of skewered meats and vegetables that you can grill over your own coal pit. Be sure to drop in and check out this very cool little bar in an interesting old building.

Minato is a cozy little bar and restaurant located just across from Furusato onsen. We have a charming traditional Japanese fit-out including an 'irori' fire place and some tatami seating. LIBUSHI

Libushi is a tap-room attached to Nozawa's own craft brewery AJB Co. Owned and operated by Tom and Emiko, Libushi is a perfect spot to cool down after a hot onsen. We have a small brewery just behind the bar area and a much larger brewery near the river making a wide variety of Ales, Stouts, Porters, Sours, and more that you can try on tap in the outlet. We also have a range of bottled beer so you can take your favourite type home with you.

Kuan is a small Japanese Izakaya located underneath Kaze no ie Italian restaurant just below Oyu onsen at the end of the mainstreet. We serve a variety of local sake and shochu, and of course ice cold beer. We have a good range of Japanese bar snacks and light meals. There are several small tables, counter seating and a small private space at the rear. Be sure to drop in for a genuine Japanese pub experience!

Jisaku

Jisaku is a small Izakaya style Japanese restaurant located opposite Craft shop Sankyu. We serve a great variety of Japanese bar snacks and light meals including some very good vegetarian options. There is a mix of western and Japanese tatami seating. Jisaku is a great place to have a slow dinner where you relax and share everything on the menu with friends. A must try is the Nagaimo steak- large Japanese style rosti/ hashbrown made with the sticky Nagaimo potato. It goes perfectly with a side of stir- fried Shimeji mushrooms.

IZAKAYA TSUKUSHINBO

Tsukushinbo is traditional local Japanese Izakaya, located in the basement of Tokiwaya ryokan next to Oyu onsen. We serve a variety of snacks and light meals with local produce featuring heavily, including Grilled iwana (trout), Shinshu Salmon, and even a good selection of sashimi from the sea of Japan. Of course we have ice cold beer and hot sake, but be sure to try the fresh ruby-red grapefruit chu-hi, with a side serve of fried shiso and cheese spring rolls!
